David Benioff is an American novelist, screenwriter, and producer born in 1970. He is best known as the co-creator and showrunner of HBO's Game of Thrones, an adaptation of George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series. Before television, he worked in finance and wrote his first novel, The 25th Hour, which was adapted into a film directed by Spike Lee.
Benioff attended Dartmouth College and later earned an MFA from the University of California, Irvine.
