How Much Is a Domestic Forever Stamp

Current Domestic Forever Stamp Price

The domestic Forever Stamp price is $0.68 as of the most recent USPS rate change. This single-piece First-Class Mail stamp covers the current standard letter rate for up to one ounce. The increase took effect on July 14, 2024, raising the price by two cents from the previous $0.66 level. The Forever Stamp remains valid for the current First-Class Mail one-ounce rate regardless of future price increases. You can buy Forever Stamps at Post Office counters, ATMs, online at USPS.com, and through authorized retailers like Amazon and Walmart.

USPS also sells stamps in coils, booklets, and sheets at the same $0.68 per stamp face value. The Postal Regulatory Commission oversees rate changes, and the most recent set of changes followed a filed request for a market-dominant product price adjustment. For the latest details, see the official USPS Price Changes page.

How the Forever Stamp Works

A Forever Stamp is non-denominated, meaning it does not print a specific postage value. It is always valid for the current standard First-Class Mail one-ounce rate, even if prices rise later. This design lets consumers lock in a purchase price and avoid buying new stamps after each rate hike. The Forever Stamp program launched in 2007, and since then USPS has issued Forever Stamps for holidays, holidays, and special occasions.

The Forever Stamp differs from a standard stamp that shows a fixed denomination. When a rate increases, a previously purchased Forever Stamp still covers the new first-ounce price. Additional ounces are charged at the current per-ounce rate, which is $0.24 for each additional ounce after the first as of the July 2024 change. You can also use multiple Forever Stamps to pay for heavier letters or packages that exceed the one-ounce standard.

Where to Buy Domestic Forever Stamps

You can buy Forever Stamps directly from USPS at any Post Office location, on the USPS website, and through the USPS mobile app. Many grocery stores, pharmacies, and big-box retailers also sell Forever Stamps at the same face value. Online marketplaces such as Amazon sell stamps from authorized sellers, and you can also purchase stamps through bank ATMs and some office supply stores.

USPS offers several bulk purchasing options, including coils, booklets, and sheets, all priced at the current Forever Stamp rate per stamp. Corporate and high-volume customers can use USPS Commercial Base pricing for additional savings on large mailings. For details on bulk and business pricing, see the USPS Commercial Mail page.
