Jason Newsted Early Career and First Major Band
Jason Newsted is an American bassist best known for his role in the heavy metal band Metallica, where he played bass from 1986 to 1997. Before joining Metallica, he was the bassist for the Michigan thrash metal band Flotsam and Jetsam. He recorded the 1986 album "Doomsday for the Deceiver" with Flotsam and Jetsam, which helped establish his reputation in the thrash metal scene.
