Economic consequences include supply chain shocks, labor shortages, and inflation. The Federal Reserve and other central banks adjusted monetary policy to support liquidity. The SEC requires public companies to disclose material risks from pandemics in filings. Investors and policymakers use data from the OECD, the World Bank, and national health agencies to design early-warning systems, stockpile medical supplies, and fund research on vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostics.
